Sainsbury’s wine recommendations! 12 wines to buy …..

Sainsbury’s wine shelves have a good range of wines if you know what to look for. Of course, the secret is knowing what to look for. This is not an exhaustive list, however, here are some that you should start with:

White wines

Torres Vina Sol (£8) – Dry, crisp and lighter in style. Click here for full review.

Stellenrust Chenin Blanc (£10) – Rounded and fresh, this Chenin has been fermented with native yeasts to give it some extra complexity. Click here for full review.

Yalumba Y Series Viognier (£11) – A reliable and very well made dry white from Australian pioneers of the grape. Click here for full review.

Paul Jaboulet Aine Viognier (£11) – This is fresh and it is also a great producer of this grape.

Cune Rioja Blanco (£12) – Cune are a great value producer in the Rioja and this white is a good one.

Bellingham Bernard Series Old Vine Chenin Blanc £13 – Old vine and lightly oaked. A combination of apple, citrus, spice and cream.

Kylie Minogue rose

Rosé 

Kylie Minogue Rosé  (£9) – This is an easy to love dry pink wine. Click here for full review.

Santa Julia Plus Malbec Rosé  (£10) – This is silky and textural but still fresh. (This may be a seasonal purchase by Sainsbury’s)

Studio By Miraval Rosé (£14) – This is a fresh and fruity wine by Miraval. It is rather good. Click here for a full review.

Red

CUNE Rioja Crianza (£11) – a more medium styled red that has light toasted oak.

Dark Horse Merlot (£11) – This is a lush fruity Merlot that is undoubtedly a crowd pleaser. Click here for a full review.

Santa Julia Uco Valley Malbec (£12) – A juicy bold red that shows excellent balance.

Wirra Wirra Church Block (£16) – Fuller bodied and plush in the mouth. Full of fruit and a wine that wins friends around the table. Click here for full review.

Wynns The Siding Cabernet Sauvignon (£16) – A fuller richer style of Cabernet that drinks well if you happen to leave it in a cool dark place for half a decade.

Terre di Faiano Nero di Troia organic (£10) – A fuller bodied red that is complex and plush in the mouth.

Sweeties

Taylors LBV Port (£20) – A classic sweet Port.

Kourtaki Mavrodaphni of Patra (£8) – An unusual sweet red that is amazing value once you discover it.

Contino Rioja Reserva  (£27)
