Morrisons wine shelves have some little gems on their wine list, usually under their ‘The Best’ label where a producer of excellence will be making the wines for Morrisons. Of course, the secret is knowing what to look for. This is not an exhaustive list, however, here are some that you should start with:

White wines

Torres Vina Sol (£8) – Dry, crisp and lighter in style. Click here for full review.

Oxford Landing Chardonnay (£8) – A fruity but creamy and gently rounded Chardonnay. Remarkable Australian classic. 

Rosé 

Kylie Minogue Rosé  (£9) – This is an easy to love dry pink wine. Click here for full review.

Studio By Miraval Rosé (£13) – This is a fresh and fruity wine by Miraval. It is rather good. Click here for a full review.

Fleurs de Prairie Luberon Rose  (£11) – A syrah grenache dry rose from the Southern Rhone. 

Red

CUNE Rioja Crianza (£10) – a more medium styled red that has light toasted oak.

Morrisons The Best Uco Valley Malbec (£12) – Zuccardi are Malbec experts and they make this exclusively for Morrisons.

Ravenswood Lodi Zinfandel (£15) – A full richer style of Zinfandel that is a crowd pleaser.

Matsu El Picaro (£11) – This Spanish producer is reliably good and so is this Tempranillo.

Sweeties

Morrisons The Best Botrytis Semillon (£7) – De Bortoli make this sweetie and they are one of the best sweet wine producers around. Hard to beat for the price.

Morrisons The Best Pedro Ximenez (£7) – This wine is made by Lustau and they make the best PX sherries that you will find in most stores in the UK. This is a bargain.

Taylors LBV Port (£20) – A classic sweet Port. (A seasonal buy. Check availability.)

That special occasion buy:

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc (£27) – A reliable wine in this price bracket. A textural blend of fruit and spice.

Contino Reserva Rioja (£27) – an easy choice for a Reserva Rioja, ripe lush and some red and black berry fruit.

Jadot Couvent des Jacobins Chardonnay (£21) – an oaked Burgundian white wine with richness and spice.
