ASDA wine recommendations! 6 wines to buy …..

ASDA wine shelves have a good range of wines if you know what to look for. Of course, the secret is knowing what to look for. This is not an exhaustive list, however, here are some that you should start with:

White wines

Torres Vina Sol (£8) – Dry, crisp and lighter in style. Click here for full review.

Dr L Riesling (£7) – This wine is unashamedly off dry but it is so well balanced that you will barely notice. Dr Loosen is a good producer of German Riesling. Drink this wine with Asian flavours, pork or with Quiche Lorraine.

Cune Rioja Blanco (£10) – Cune are a great value producer in the Rioja and this white is a good one.

Kylie Minogue rose

Rosé

Kylie Minogue Rosé  (£9) – This is an easy to love dry pink wine. Click here for full review.

Studio By Miraval Rosé (£13) – This is a fresh and fruity wine by Miraval. It is rather good. Click here for a full review.

The Beach Vin de Provence  (£16) – From the producer of Whispering Angel and it is a good one too.

Red

Penfolds Max’s Shiraz (£20) – Fuller bodied and rich Shiraz with toasty oak and blackberries and a lashing of pepper. (seasonal purchase, check current availability)

ASDA Extra Special Marques del Norte Rioja (£9) – A fuller bodied red with lashings of sweet vanilla oak. Rich and smooth.

Sweeties

Taylors LBV Port (£20) – A classic sweet Port. (seasonal purchase, check current availability)

DB Botrytis Semillon (£8) – De Bortoli make this sweetie and they are one of the best sweet wine producers around. Hard to beat for the price.

Sparkling Wines

Chandon Brut (£17) – Made in the style of Champagne. A delicious alternative from Argentina.

Asquith Gardens Traditional English Sparkling Wine (£18) – An excellent traditionally made English wine with 5 years maturing on lees before being released for sale. Remarkable value.
