Two laid back, good drinking reds from Hardys

hardys-tintara-hs-shirazHardys have just released two new dry grown vineyard McLaren Vale reds under the Tintara Horseshoe Row label.

Hardys Tintara Horseshoe Row Shiraz 2013 ($18) – The shiraz has plenty of regional personality on show from the rich raspberry jam, black cherry, liquorice, violets and pepper to the creamy cinnamon oak. Fuller bodied, smooth tannins with just enough peppery fruit length to be able to enjoy this wine without food as well. Good drinking for red lovers looking for value.

Hardys Tintara Horseshoe Row Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 ($18) – An easy drinking Cab with varietal black and red currant fruit and mint backed up by fragrant sandalwood and nutmeg. There is some grip to the drier Cab tannins to add some interest to the fruit. A mid weeker with some pleasing weight to the sweetly ripe fruit, as you would expect from the Vale. Like the Shiraz, it delivers well for the price.
