Cullen Mangan Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Semillon from Margaret River is one of my favourite SBSs. The combination is as popular in Australia as it is in Bordeaux.  The Mangan Vineyard is a dry farmed, biodynamic vineyard by one of Australia’s great winemakers Vanya Cullen.

The 2017 is a vintage that has more grassy, elderflower and a fine citrus zest. It is crisp and clean with a long intensity. While the 2016, had an indulgent, creamy just ripe pineapple and peach fruit with a line of lime juice and a whiff of floral perfume.  

Both vintages are bone dry but there is a curvaceousness to the palate on the 2016 where as I feel the 2017 has a more fresh styling.  The fleshiness is kept lively with a flush of soft natural acid. 

You do not have to rush this wine, either in the glass or in the cellar. These highly sought after wines will cellar for the mid-term.
